WHAT WE DO

The questions that drive us.

What causes these symptoms?

We investigate the cognitive, emotional and physiological processes that give rise to neurological, affective and dissociative symptoms.

How do symptom types interact?

Dissociative, affective and neurological symptoms rarely occur in isolation. We study how they co-occur, reinforce and predict one another.

How do mind and body meet?

A central interest of the lab is mind–body interaction: how psychological states become physical experience, and how bodily signals shape the mind.

Volunteers make this research possible.

We recruit people living with functional neurological, dissociative or affective symptoms, as well as people without these experiences. Most studies involve one or several sessions of online questionnaires and lab-based tasks.
